One of the most important softwares to have in your Mac or any other OS is a good productivity suite of applications, and the first name that makes any Mac user happy is definitely iWork. The Suite is full of features and probably everything that a user could wish for. I think this version of iWork is the last available version for PowerPC users. By the way, despite its name, AppleWorks was also available for Microsoft Windows. AppleWorks development ended in , and the software only runs in XP compatibility mode on Windows 7 and later — if it runs on Windows 8 at all.

I love spreadsheets. One huge improvement LibreOffice has over good old AppleWorks is that you can create line graphs with smoothed lines instead of just straight ones. AppleWorks was positively primitive in that regard. On the negative side, LibreOffice handles type poorly in its graphs.
They need to fix this.
OpenOffice 3.1 and OS X
My solution is to only use plain text in my graphs. This is true of any app that supports Microsoft Office formats.
Ditto for Excel. Forewarned is forearmed. I have been using spreadsheets since Compute! First Choice as my office suite.
