But this time I went with my gut and followed through with my vision and did what I set out to do. All these people are saying this is so different. But if you listen to the old shit, it makes sense. A lot of it comes from inside myself, you know. It was a lot of shutting out the rest of the world and finding the inspiration inside of myself. It was healthy and cleansing.

Macadelic dealt a lot with my old girlfriend and a lot of it was driven by my relationship at that time. But with this record, I removed everything in my life. I had to sit there and do some soul searching. Personally, when looking at it, the image of Mac made me think of a rap game Beatles, with his naked body symbolising that this record would be a lot more personal.

I love the cover. It turned out perfectly. Not necessarily in terms of content, but in terms of hazy, summer time soundscapes with feature artists that blended seamlessly into the mix. When I asked Mac about this, the answer was pretty surprising:. Gees feat. Schoolboy Q [Explicit]. Watching Movies [Explicit].

Mac Miller is one of those artists that I been trying to listen to but could never feel. Hearing his mixtapes from , I thought he was good but wasn't for me, plus I thought the production on a lot of songs wasn't all that good.
Thats probably why I ignored his Blue Slide Park album completely. Here on this album, Mac stepped up his lyrics, as I suggest that he is getting older. Compared to his mixtapes, he seems more focused here, while still young but manages to deliver. The production here by Larry Fisherman aka Mac's evil twin I feel is much better than previous releases with it's mellow vibe on quite a bit of songs mind you I have not heard Blue Slide Park. Ab-Soul and Mac shows great chemestry on "Matches", making it another standout track. Both "Red Dot Music" with Action Bronson, and "Gees" with Schoolboy Q bring excellence, especially with the guest apprearance presence on those tracks.
Other excellent songs with nice mellow beats and good lyrics include "Suplexes Inside of Complexes and Duplexes" and "Aquarium" both produced by the wonderful "Larry Fisherman". A few songs I was not feeling were "Someone Like You" as the track seemed a little weak.

Also the album's lenghty time at 71 minutes, is really doesn't do much for it either. Overall Mac has shown progression since the last time I heard him. Mac is showing slight more maturity here, but he is not quite there yet. He still has some lyrical flaws that can be fixed, but he did suprise me here. Hopefully he progresses more as he gets older. Action Bronson 4. Even so, Miller proved a hit on the underaged weekend warrior circuit, and despite a withering critical reception, his debut album Blue Slide Park became the first independent hip-hop album to top the Billboard charts in nearly twenty years. Things got knotty for Mac just as quickly as he took off, though. Miller also ran into threats of litigation from hip-hop producer Lord Finesse, who says his production was used without permission on a popular mixtape cut, and Donald Trump, who came calling after a single named after him racked up millions of views on YouTube.
Watching Movies with the Sound Off reintroduces Mac Miller as a druggy philosopher on the mic and a left field talent behind the boards.
